Biodiesel: What is it and What Are its Benefits?
As defined by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Alternative Fuels Data Center, Biodiesel is an eco-friendly alternative to petroleum diesel. Using biodiesel to fuel vehicles enhances energy security, betters air quality, supports the environment, and provides additional safety benefits.
Why Now?
Warner Petroleum’s operations include marine petroleum services and storage terminals for bulk fuel at the Detroit River (Detroit, Michigan), Rouge River (Dearborn, Michigan), and Lake Michigan (Burns Harbor, Indiana), With one of these terminals being so close to home for Hoosiers, some may be wondering “Why now?”. Until recently, Biodiesel had not been a frequently used fuel in the state of Indiana, but because of its benefits of improved air quality and energy security, among others, it is one of the smartest and most environmentally friendly fuels to use. What this means, is that with the implementation of biodiesel, our beautiful state of Indiana has a much cleaner future!
