A Drive Clean Indiana Program

Indiana Fleet Modernization

Drive Clean Indiana helps business and government fleets across the state transition to cleaner, more efficient vehicles and fuels. From regional Green Fleet certification to school buses and off-road equipment, every program here exists to break down the barriers between your fleet and cleaner operations.

Program Overview

Modernizing Indiana's Fleets, One Vehicle at a Time

Indiana Fleet Modernization is Drive Clean Indiana's umbrella for the programs that help business and government fleets improve their environmental performance. The work covers everything from diesel retrofits and alternative fuel adoption to fleet policy, emissions quantification, and grant funding.

DCI works directly with fleet managers to mitigate the barriers that prevent the adoption of alternative fuels and advanced technology vehicles, while helping create policies that support petroleum and vehicle-emission reductions. Whether you run a city motor pool, a school bus fleet, or off-road equipment, there's a program here built for you.

Fleet Modernization

Crossroads Clean Mobility

Indiana sits at the crossroads of America, and its fleets move the freight, people, and services that keep the region running. Crossroads Clean Mobility connects Indiana fleets and communities with the planning, vehicle technology, and funding opportunities they need to make the shift to cleaner mobility.

Through this initiative, DCI guides participating organizations from initial fleet evaluation through vehicle deployment, drawing on more than 25 years of clean transportation experience across all 92 Indiana counties.

Statewide Working Group

Indiana Clean School Bus Consortium

The Indiana Clean School Bus Consortium is a resource for school bus fleets, providing peer-to-peer networking and dialogue-driven discussions for districts interested in clean school buses. Partners include the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), the EPA, and many others.

DCI runs a series of working group meetings that offer insights on training and best management practices, provide updates on funding opportunities, and give districts a statewide forum for reducing the barriers to cleaner school bus technologies.

Beyond the Highway

Off-Road Initiatives

Cleaner transportation doesn't stop at the road. Indiana's ports, construction sites, farms, airports, and warehouses run thousands of pieces of off-road equipment, from forklifts and ground support vehicles to marine vessels and heavy machinery. These engines are some of the biggest opportunities for emissions reductions in the state.

DCI works with equipment owners and operators to identify cleaner fuel and technology options for off-road applications, and to connect those projects with the state and federal funding programs that make upgrades affordable.
