About the Initiative

What Is GOEVIN?

GOEVIN stands for GO Electric Vehicle INdiana. It's a collaborative, statewide initiative dedicated to advancing electric vehicle adoption across the Hoosier State. The team is made up of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), the Indiana Utility Group, and Drive Clean Indiana.

GOEVIN raises consumer awareness of electric vehicles by providing unbiased, educational information on the benefits of driving electric, while building the public charging infrastructure that makes EV ownership practical in every corner of the state. As Indiana's DOE Clean Cities coalition, Drive Clean Indiana leads the education, outreach, and marketing side of the program.

Four Ways GOEVIN Drives Indiana Electric

Every GOEVIN program supports one of four core goals that move Indiana toward electrified transportation.

Driving Infrastructure

Developing a conveniently located, statewide EV charging network along Indiana's major highway routes.

Driving Availability

Making sure Hoosiers have access to EVs that fit a wide range of needs, from daily commuters to commercial fleets.

Driving Awareness

Educating Hoosiers on the economic, environmental, and practical benefits that electric vehicles provide.

Driving Adoption

Providing the tools and resources Hoosiers need to make their transition toward electrified transportation.

Max Distance From Exits

The Indiana Volkswagen Mitigation Settlement, administered by IDEM, allocated $6.15 million to improve Indiana's statewide EV charging network. GOEVIN has established connections across Indiana's alternative fuel corridors, including the deployment of 70 Direct Current Fast Chargers (DCFC) along Indiana's major highway routes. Every GOEVIN charger is publicly available and located within close vicinity to highway exits, so drivers can charge throughout any trip across the state.

Why Go Electric

The Advantages of Electric Vehicles

GOEVIN's job is to give Hoosiers the facts. Here's what driving electric actually delivers.

Low Maintenance, High Performance

An electric motor has fewer than 20 moving parts compared to hundreds in a gas engine, so there's less to break and no oil changes. Modern EVs are quick too. The average 2025 model goes 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, with a smoother, quieter ride and more cabin space.

Environmentally Friendly

All-electric vehicles produce zero tailpipe emissions. Charging an EV in Indiana produces less than half the harmful emissions of an equivalent gasoline vehicle, and that advantage keeps growing as the grid adds more renewable power sources.

Real Cost Savings

Electricity costs less per mile than gasoline and maintenance bills run lower. A federal tax credit offers up to $7,500 on qualifying EVs, and state, local, and utility incentives can stack the savings even higher. GOEVIN's EV Calculator shows what you could save.
