DESCRIPTION:Aug. 30\, 2022\, 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Eastern – Studebaker Series EV Lecture & Display\, Studebaker National Museum\, 201 Chapin St\, South Bend\, Indiana \nJoin the Michiana Area Council of Governments and Drive Clean Indiana at the Studebaker National Museum for a Studebaker Series lecture entitled\, “The Future is Here: Electric Vehicles in Michiana and Beyond” followed by an electric vehicle display! \nDoors open at 6 p.m. with the lecture from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  The Museum will be open until 8:30 p.m. after the lecture. \n2022 has been a tough year to purchase any car due to continuing supply chain woes and high gas prices have sparked more intense demand for fuel efficient and electric vehicles. Yet 2022 is also a pivotal year for electric vehicles. The fast-charging network for long-distance travel is poised to be transformed through major private and federal investments at a time when available vehicle models are proliferating and electric pickup trucks and electric SUVs are finally entering the market. Learn about how the local\, state\, and national charging environment is improving and electric vehicles are moving mainstream as nearly a quarter of U.S. drivers report they would consider purchasing an EV for their next vehicle. \nAttendees will also learn practical tips on how to find public charging\, which vehicles still have the federal tax credit\, local utility incentives for home charging and what vehicle models are available and coming soon. Guests from the local Michiana Electric Vehicle Drivers Network will share about their personal experience switching to electric vehicles. Learn about upcoming electric vehicle events at First Fridays where you can see a wide range of plug-in hybrid and all-electric models\, meet their local owners and even get behind the wheel for a test drive courtesy of Drive Clean Indiana. \nAbout the Speaker\nLeah Thill is the Senior Environmental Planner with the Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG)\, where MACOG’s sustainability programs focus on clean transportation\, clean air\, clean energy and brownfields. Leah holds a Master of Public Affairs and a Master of Science in Environmental Science from the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs with concentrations in Energy and Sustainability\, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Goshen College. Leah blends her interest in science and technology with a passion for scaling up existing solutions to urgent environmental challenges. \nAbout the Event\nAdmission is $2 a person and free for members. The galleries will be open half an hour before the presentation and an hour afterwards for exploration.  Museum staff will be available to answer questions as guests explore Charged. \n
