SUMMARY:May 27\, 2021 - Powering Vehicles with Hydrogen Webinar
DESCRIPTION:May 27\, 2021\, 11 a.m. Central – Powering Vehicles with Hydrogen Webinar \n\n\n\nHydrogen vehicles\, including fuel cells\, are becoming closer to a reality to power commercial and government fleet vehicles. For example\, Hyzon Motors Inc.\, a leading supplier of zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell powered heavy vehicles\, recently announced plans to build the largest fuel cell membrane electrode assembly (MEA) production line for commercial vehicles in the U.S. at its new Hyzon Innovation Center in Bolingbrook\, Illinois\, just outside of Chicago. \nTo learn about the promise that fuel cells and hydrogen have to power the vehicles of today and tomorrow\, join Chicago Area Clean Cities on Thursday\, May 27 at 11 AM for a special webinar presentation. \nSpeakers will include: \n·    Amy Adams\, Vice President\, Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Technologies\, Cummins Inc. \n·    Mark Gordon\, Chief Financial Officer\, Hyzon Motors \n·    Ted Barnes\, Director\, Research & Development\, GTI \nFollowing the panel of speakers will be Q&A. \nFuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) are powered by hydrogen. They are more efficient than conventional internal combustion engine vehicles and produce no tailpipe emissions—they only emit water vapor and warm air. FCEVs and the hydrogen infrastructure to fuel them are in the early stages of implementation. Hydrogen is considered an alternative fuel under the Energy Policy Act of 1992 and qualifies for alternative fuel vehicle tax credits. \n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:May 27\, 2021 - Co-Optima Capstone Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:\n\nMay 27\, 2021\, 1 p.m. Central – Co-Optimization of Fuels & Engines Capstone Webinar Series: What Environmental and Economic Benefits Might be Realized by Co-Optimizing Fuels and SI engines for LD passenger vehicles? \nWhile electric cars are coming off the assembly line in ever-growing numbers\, vehicles with internal combustion engines using fuels produced mainly from petroleum will continue to make up a large share of the automotive market for years to come. What innovations can make these engines and fuels as environmentally friendly and energy efficient as possible? \nThe U.S. Department of Energy Bioenergy Technologies and Vehicle Technologies Offices’ Co-Optimization of Fuels & Engines (Co-Optima) initiative is accelerating the introduction of efficient\, clean\, affordable\, and scalable high-performance vehicle fuels and engines. A new Co-Optima Capstone Webinar Series highlights key takeaways from the breakthrough initiative. \nUpcoming sessions include (all times are 1 p.m. Central): \nJune 24 – What environmental and economic benefits might be realized by co-optimizing fuels and engines for medium-duty (MD) and heavy-duty (HD) commercial vehicles? \nAugust 26 – What unconventional engine-fuel combinations show the greatest promise for efficiency improvements beyond current LD/MD/HD technologies? \nSeptember 30 – Co-Optimization of Fuels & Engines past\, present and future: What did we learn and where do we go next? \n \nFor more detailed information\, visit the Co-Optima Capstone Webinars webpage. \n\n\n
